What changes on the homepage
Reddit said the new homepage offers two feeds. Following shows posts from subreddits a user follows, while For You mixes posts from those subreddits with recommendations related to the user's interests. The company described the layout as a first step toward discovery of ideas, connections and perspectives outside a user's usual communities.
The change gives interest-based recommendations their own homepage feed rather than mixing them into the existing layout. TechCrunch reported that Reddit has long recommended posts from communities users had not joined, but the new structure separates those suggestions from followed ones.
Rollout and older options
According to TechCrunch, the new feed experience is rolling out globally over the next few weeks. Reddit said users can switch between the two feeds, and the platform reopens whichever feed was last viewed.
Earlier in 2026, Reddit said it would deprecate r/all, the feed of posts popular across the platform, as part of efforts to simplify the site and improve homepage personalization. Users seeking the older sorting options such as best, hot and new can use Old Reddit, though Reddit plans to cut back access to it unless a user has used it recently. TechCrunch noted that some users who encountered the new feeds during testing expressed frustration.
What is the difference between Reddit's new For You and Following feeds?
Following shows only posts from communities a user has joined. For You combines posts from those communities with recommendations based on the user's interests, and Reddit reopens whichever feed was last viewed.
