What the PRA is publishing
The Prudential Regulation Authority began publishing a quarterly aggregate figure on 14 October 2026 covering the share of new regulated mortgage contracts made at loan-to-income ratios of 4.5 times income or more. The data, set out in supervisory statement SS2/26, is intended to inform firms' planning on high LTI lending.
The PRA said the aggregate flow may occasionally sit above the 15% limit recommended by the Financial Policy Committee, and that in such cases the PRA and the Financial Conduct Authority may expect firms to reduce flows gradually toward that level. The regulators said they have no current expectations for firms to cut high LTI lending.
